The Cork women were hoping to bring that\ngood form into Round 1 of the AFL Ireland Women\u2019s Premiership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kookaburras on the other hand boasted an impressive squad list for their first home game of the season, with 20 players named as part of the playing group for Round 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"755\" src=\"https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-1024x755.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-789\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-1024x755.png 1024w, https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-300x221.png 300w, https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-768x566.png 768w, https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-128x94.png 128w, https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721-32x24.png 32w, https:\/\/aflireland.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Kooks-v-Vikings-team-photo-030721.png 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>Ulster Kookaburras <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And it was the\nUlster women who found the route to victory on the day, through great use of their\ninterchange bench. There were no fewer than 8 goal scorers for the Kooks, with Eva\nCafolla top scorer for the home side on the day, notching up 3 majors. Siobhan Sherrin\nwas another player who got on the scoresheet, with 2 goals of her own. A player\nwith a familiar name in AFL, Sherrin was one of the best on ground with her score\ninvolvement and all round play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Annie Walsh, having snagged top scorer in the Leeside League, continued her red hot form for the Vikings. She bagged multiple goals for her side who to their credit tried to keep pace with their formidable Ulster opponents. The Magpies, as a tier 2 club, are in their development stage so will\nparticipate in 9s tournaments and development games as part of the 2021 season.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St Brendan\u2019s GAA club in Dublin was the venue for the first ever meeting of these teams. Both sides traded scores throughout, with tough tackling being the theme of the day. Sorcha Nolan and Jane Leahy were the sharo shooters on the day, racking up 6 and 4 goals respectively. Tanya Farrell, Sarah Mullins and Karen Lawlor were impressive as the first 3 Galway representatives of the season. And there\nis plenty more to come this summer as the sides look to Round 2.
