About the Club:
Originally established as the CIT Saints in 2017, our club began with a focus on men’s AFL teams. In 2021, following the transition from Cork Institute of Technology to Munster Technological University (MTU), we rebranded as the MTU Crows AFL and proudly introduced our women’s team.
Since 2021, the club has seen remarkable growth and success for both men’s and women’s teams. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic during the 2021/2022 season, we focused on development through weekly training sessions and participation in the local Leeside League tournaments. The men’s team competed against UCC and Leeside Lions, while the women faced off against UCC and Cork Vikings.
The 2022/2023 season marked another milestone as both teams trained hard and targeted the Fitzpatrick Cup in Cardiff, Wales. Our women’s team secured a strong second-place finish, while the men placed third. In the 2023/2024 season, the teams continued to thrive. At the Fitzpatrick Cup in London, the women’s team triumphed, claiming their first title after defeating UCC, while the men narrowly missed out on the title by a single goal against UCC but avenged the loss by winning the Cork Colleges Cup back in Cork.
Looking ahead to the 2024/2025 season, the women’s team aims to defend their Fitzpatrick Cup title, while the men’s team seeks to reclaim the Fitzpatrick Cup crown and retain the Cork Colleges Cup. For the first time since 2019, we will also enter two men’s teams in the competition, marking another exciting chapter for the club.
At MTU Crows AFL, we strive to embody the core values of Australian Rules Football – sportsmanship, inclusivity, and community spirit. While we are committed to winning and achieving excellence on the field, we never lose sight of the importance of fostering a supportive environment where players can grow, have fun, and develop lifelong friendships. Our mission is to promote the joy of AFL and build a strong club culture where success and enjoyment go hand in hand.
