It has been a longer than usual off season for both the Men’s and Women’s clubs due to Covid. We had a stop start season in 2020 and although there was no grand final in the Men’s competition, we witnessed some highly entertaining footy.
After a lot of hard work behind the scenes creating a Return to Play plan over the past few weeks and months, we are delighted to be able to bring you the full 2021 AFL Ireland Men’s & Women’s Premiershop fixtures.
What’s exciting is that we have reverted to holding the Men’s and Women’s games in the same venues for each round. We have also managed to include a week of Women’s Carnival footy, as well as AFL Europe’s Festival of Football Carnival which are to be held on the 7th and 14th of August respectively.

The Premiership season kicks off on the 3rd of July with the 2 Cork clubs, Leeside Lions & Cork Vikings travelling to take on the teams from Ulster, Belfast Redbacks & Ulster Kookaburras. Meanwhile in Dublin, the South Dublin Swans will play the Galway Magpies in a repeat of last season’s opener. The newly formed South Dublin Swans Women’s team will have a BYE in the first round before beginning their campaign at home to the Ulster Kookaburras on the 17th July.
The Preliminary finals are due to take place on the first Saturday of October while the Grand Final is scheduled for 2 weeks later, 16th October. This is subject to change depending on the scheduling of this years Euro Cup.
Other celebrations and events are also planned this year, in what is due to be an exciting return to Footy here in Ireland. This week the action kicks off with the Leeside League in Cork on Wednesday.
Stay up to date with all the action through our social media channels.
FOOTY’S BACK AND WE LOVE IT!!!!!!!
